The 13th edition of the Sun Festival has once again brought thousands of gymnasts from around the world in Riccione.

On Sunday, July 3, 2016 took place the Opening Ceremony of the Festival del Sole—the largest event of general gymnastics in the Mediterranean—opened by the triumphant parade of more than 5,000 athletes from 22 nations: Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Czech Republic , Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Norway, Portugal, United Kingdom, San Marino Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Sweden and Switzerland.
The parade has followed three different paths until all teams reached the big stage in Piazzale Roma and “invade” the square in front of it.

The ceremony was attended by the Councillor of Tourism of the Municipality of Riccione Claudio Montanari who extended welcome of the City to all participants of the Festival del Sole and also to the fantastic performers who created an unforgettable show.
Among the participants in this great Ceremony, are the singer Giada D’Auria, Dalia Marco from Italian TV show “Amici, the Sickjumpers collective Modena who have just been awarded the world record for most backflips, the local group of acrobatic theater B-You from Riccione and Andrea Rossi, an historical presence in the Festival del Sole as well as a singer and dancer in musicals at Oltremare.
Also joining the show, many Italian and international gymnasts and artists who have enriched the inauguration of this 13th edition of Festival del Sole.

After the huge Opening Ceremony, on Monday, July 4 the actual event will begin with rehearsals in the morning in 5 Arenas set up on the seafront of Riccione, gymnastics and dance workshops in the Festival Village at the park Papa Giovanni Paolo II, and from 17 onwards, performances in all arenas with free admission for the public.
